The controlled back office for multi-entity groups

Your team.
Your systems.
We fill the gaps.

Routine finance work runs on your existing systems. Your team controls approvals, a controller signs off on every close, and owners see the whole group.

Multi-entity

One function, one seat, or end to end

Any industry

Sound familiar?

Three questions every group owner asks.

Which entity actually made money last month?

One login instead of one per entity. The owner dashboard shows cash, receivables, payables and close status for every entity on one screen.

Why does intercompany never tie?

Due-to and due-from settle-ups run by written rule each month, and the consolidation eliminates them so the group view is real.

Who approved this bill?

Every category of spend has a named approver, bills route to them automatically, and the record of who said yes is kept.

Who it’s for

Separate books for every entity. One clear view of the group.

For groups whose separate ledgers no longer give owners a reliable view of the whole.

Hospitality, venues and events

Ticketing, bar sales, service charges, tips, event deposits and settlements across the venue and its sister companies. Live today.

Real estate and management companies

A management company running several holding and partnership LLCs, each with its own books, payroll pass-throughs and partner reporting.

Professional services and agency groups

Several practices or studios, each its own entity, with shared staff, intercompany charges and partners who want their own numbers.

Any other multi-entity group

If every entity has its own ledger and you still cannot see the whole, the system fits. The industry playbook is written during the install.

What you get

Start with one function. Add the finance support you need.

Implementation, bookkeeping, controller oversight and CFO support—with clearly defined scope and starting prices.

BOOKKEEPER

Bookkeeper seat · Automated Books

Bill entry, bank and card reconciliation, document chasing, payroll and sales journals. Agents do the routine work; a person reviews exceptions and closes the month. Choose a single function or the whole seat. Automated Books starts at $650 per entity per month, with a $1,500 minimum. Single functions are quoted.

CONTROLLER

Controller seat · Controller System

Close checklists, intercompany reconciliation, consolidation with eliminations, variance review and partner reports. The full seat includes the weekday pipeline, owner dashboard, daily digest and playbook upkeep, with controller sign-off. From $2,500 per month for up to 3 entities, plus $400 per additional entity. Single functions are quoted.

CFO

CFO seat · CFO Layer

13-week cash flow, annual budget, budget vs actuals, rolling forecasts, lender, landlord and investor packages, distribution planning and CPA coordination. Core is $2,500 per month. Growth is $4,500 and adds a monthly review meeting and scenario models. Choose a single function or the whole seat; single functions are quoted.

SETUP

Implementation

Entity map, ledger, bank, card, POS and payroll connections, approval routing, owner dashboard and a seeded playbook. Typically 30 to 45 days. From $7,500 one-time for up to 3 entities, plus $1,500 per additional entity. See Pricing for the implementation credit.

CATCH-UP

Catch-up

Books behind? We quote it per entity-month after a free review, and the install starts from a clean point.

PLAYBOOKS

Industry playbooks

Start with an existing industry playbook where available. Otherwise, we build yours with you during implementation.

THREE WAYS IN

Your controller is good and AP is chaos: take bill entry and approval routing, keep everything else.

You have a bookkeeper and nobody above them: take the controller seat and let them run on the system.

You are starting from a spreadsheet: take it all.

Choose one function, a full seat, or end-to-end support. Single functions are quoted; starting prices and scope adjustments are listed below.

How it works

Installed in weeks. Runs every weekday.

01

Install

In 30 to 45 days we map your entities, connect your ledgers, banks, cards, POS and payroll, set up approval routing and seed your playbook from decisions you have already made.

02

Run

Every weekday the pipeline pulls every ledger, sorts the inbox, chases missing receipts and does the routine entries, each agent only to the level it has earned. People handle the exceptions.

03

Report

Each month closes against a checklist, the group consolidates with eliminations, and owners and partners get plain-language reports for every entity that tie out to the books.

Pricing

Clear starting prices. Scope that fits your group.

Starting prices. Your quote depends on the number of entities, transaction volume, the number of bank, card and POS accounts, and how current the books are.

IMPLEMENTATION

from $7,500

one-time, up to 3 entities

+$1,500 per additional entity. Half of it is credited back across months 4 to 6 if your first close on the system lands on schedule.

AUTOMATED BOOKS

from $650

per entity, per month · $1,500 minimum

Agents keep the books, a person closes the month. Transaction volume and the number of accounts move the price.

CONTROLLER SYSTEM

from $2,500

per month, up to 3 entities

+$400 per month for each additional entity. The weekday pipeline, consolidation and close, with controller sign-off.

CFO LAYER

$2,500 / $4,500

per month, Core / Growth

Core: cash, budget vs actuals, forecast, lender and investor packages. Growth adds a monthly review meeting and scenario models.

Worked example, 8 entities with books, controller and CFO Core: about $12,200 per month plus implementation.

Security and control

Automation you can audit.

Autonomy is earned

Every agent starts in shadow mode, checked against your team’s real work. It takes on more only after passing a review gate, and one error in a close period moves it back a step. The ladder is kept per agent and per entity.

You keep the keys

Payments, wires and signatures stay with you. Spend routes to named approvers, and a kill switch stops the pipeline at any time.

Your books stay yours

Everything lives in your own files. Access is granted entity by entity, is read-only wherever possible, and can be revoked whenever you choose.

What we stand on

A written information security plan under the FTC Safeguards Rule, errors-and-omissions and cyber insurance, and the SOC 2 reports of the platforms we run on: QuickBooks, Xero, Ramp, Brex and Anthropic.

Every statement we issue carries the line “prepared from management’s representations; not audited or reviewed.”

Questions

Before you ask.

Do we have to leave QuickBooks or Xero?

No. Modum runs on your existing files, one per entity. Nothing is migrated.

What happens to our bookkeeper?

Keep them and they run on the system, or hand the routine work to Automated Books. Same dashboard, same close either way.

Are you a CPA firm?

No. Modum Management is not a CPA firm and does not provide audit, attest or tax-preparation services. We hand your CPA closed, reconciled books and coordinate year-end with them.

Which industries?

Any multi-entity group. The system is the same in every industry; what changes is the playbook, the recurring checks, cut-offs and entries your kind of business depends on. Where we have one written, you start from it. Where we don’t, we write it with you during the install.

How long does implementation take?

Usually 30 to 45 days, depending on how many entities you run and how current the books are.

What if we run more than 15 entities or use NetSuite?

We’ll scope your group and provide a custom quote. Pricing scales with entity count. NetSuite and Sage Intacct support is scoped as part of the engagement.

Who pays the bills and runs payroll?

You keep your payroll provider and your bank, and you release payments. We prepare payment runs for your approval, reconcile payroll and book everything.

What does the AI actually do on its own?

Only what it has earned. Agents start in shadow mode and post with review only after passing a gate, and every action is logged and reversible. Security and control has the detail.
